Cupcakes for a Cause

Bakery offers cupcakes for patriotic cause To celebrate Independence Day and honor U.S. troops, Dessert Gallery Baker & Cafe will sell patriotic-themed cupcakes to raise money for soldiers severely injured while fighting overseas.

When customers purchase cupcakes through July 3, 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit Impact Player Partners, a nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial support for soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We all have our own personal opinions about the war in Iraq, but I think it’s fair to say that everyone agrees with the idea of supporting those brave men and women who have placed themselves in harms way for our freedom," said Sara Brook, owner of Dessert Gallery. "This is our way of letting them know that we are grateful for their service to our country."

Dessert Gallery will also collect cash donations for Impact Players Partners at all locations during the 10 days leading up to July 4.

"I appreciate Dessert Gallery bringing the sacrifices of our wounded troops to the attention of their customers," Impact Player Partners Chairman of the Board W. James Hoelker said.

Dessert Gallery is located in the Upper Kirby district at 3200 Kirby Drive, Galleria area at 1616 Post Oak Drive and Sugar Land Town Square at 2260 Lone Star Drive. For information, visit www.dessertgallery.com and www.impactplayer.org.
