Dessert Gallery Bakery & Café
INGREDIENTS
4 oz margarine, softened ½ cup vegetable shortening 2 cups granulated sugar 5 egg yolks 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 2 cup flour 1 cup buttermilk ¾ teaspoon vanilla 5 egg whites
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350F. Spray three 9" pans with Baker’s joy.
Layers
- Cream margarine, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add yolks slowly and mix well.
- Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternating with the buttermilk.
- Add vanilla.
- Beat egg whites to stiff peaks but not dry. Fold whipped egg whites to mixing batter.
- Divide batter between the 3 pans.
- Bake 25 min. Or until cake tests done.
- Cool completely before frosting.
